"Hello, I am writing to thank your awesome volunteers for making the last food drive such a success. We at the Amesbury Center truly appreciate our partnership with Pennies For Poverty! Our pantry now serves, on average, 600 families in need each month—this is a staggering volume—more than 50% higher than the same period a little over a year ago. A sad sign of our difficult times! Many thanks again, and please thank your entire board for all that you do to support area anti-poverty agencies." Elaine Miller, Community Action, Inc.
The three-day food drive raised more than $2,600 worth of food for the five food pantries that serve Newburyport residents: Salvation Army, Community Service, Our Neighbor's Table, Community Action, and Pettengill House. Please join us for the 3rd annual Volunteer Opportunities and Poverty Awareness Fair on October 15-17. The theme of this year's Fair will be: Article 25 of the Declaration of Human Rights that poverty is a human rights issue, and the power of music in creating social change. We're calling the Fair Senzeni NA, as it is reflective of the Fair's mission: as in "What have we done" ...to cause poverty? ...to help those in need? ...and LOOK what we have done! The Fair is held annually to connect volunteers with nonprofits and to raise awareness of poverty.
